Check (+): A side is in check if his King is threatened to be annihilated. Mate (#): A side is mate when he is in check and he cannot play any legal move. Stalemate (=): A side is stalemate when he is not in check and he cannot play any legal move. Twomover (#2): White begins and forces checkmate of Black on White’s second move. Threemover (#3): White begins and forces checkmate of Black on White’s third move. Moremover (#n): White begins and forces checkmate of Black in the indicated number of moves. Helpmate (H#): White and Black cooperate to checkmate Black. Usually Black moves first. Selfmate (S#): White begins and forces Black to mate White in the indicated number of moves. Help-Selfmate (HS#): In the beginning White and Black cooperate to create possition which is selfmate in 1 move. |
