Problem 520: Gabor Tar - Twomover
gabor.tar(03.02.2015) Can anything new be shown in Pickaninny? Well, Gabor Tar's twomover has a nice key and two changed mates also.  Four changes have been done many times, but enjoy this meredith setting!

With the Meredith setting come some inaccuracies: it's a shame there are dual tries that accompany the nice ones given above, so:
1.Rb4,Rg1 as well as 1.Rh1? dxe6!
1.e7 as well as 1.Rb1? dxc6!

Thanks Eugene Rosner for your interest and the comment.

The extra tries are not at all a defect. The term 'Dual' is used only in the case of double refutation to the tries or more than one mate for the same black defence.

Hi Seetheraman!
If tries are incidental, then it really doesn't matter, but when a try is thematic(here, 1.Rh1? is the important one with its changed play) it is not good for the problem to have an alternate try with the same refutation as it takes away the thematic punch. I consider these "dual-tries". The term "dual" is a flexible one. It is used whenever there is present in a problem, an unwanted alternate feature. A "black-dual" is an unwanted black defense-variation that repeats the thematic mate....

The addl. thematic try 1.Rg1? has a changed mate also, though concurrent. It can be eliminated if needed by moving the position one file right !

that was the first thing I thought of-we're on the same wavelength! I think it's a good idea and it certainly doesn't cost anything! Meredith retained and it's thematically accurate.
