Super AUW (Author)

Cardinal:Bishop which can rebound (only once) like a billiard ball when he reaches a square on the edge of the board. The rebound occurs on the edge of the board: A Cardinal on d7 can move on e8 then f8-g7-h6.

Koko Chess: a move is legal only if the arrival square is adjacent to any piece, this applies also to the capture of king.

Cardinal moves are complicated. (not very logical in my view). Billiards balls rebound in equal angles!

I don't think that the movement is complicated. When the piece touch the board it slither one square and bounces diagonally.

Quoting Diyan:

Got it. "Slither one square and then bounce" is to be added to the definition.

I believe the cardinal does not "slither one square".

Imagine the Cardinal is a point. It starts in the center of d7, passes the center of e8 and touches the edge of the board in the northeast corner of e8, which is simultaneously the northwest corner of f8, where it rebounds, passes the center of f8, etc.

Thanks Dmitri. Imagining it as a point travelling in the diagonal lines makes it clear. So to rebound, it has to travel to the end of the diagonal and so naturally passes through the adjacent square (which is impossible for a normal bishop!).
