Problem 249: Chandrasekaran - Fairy (Disparate, Grasshoppers) |
(18.09.2013) Fairy problem by Chandrasekaran KR (India) with good selfblocks and Disparate effects, but unfortunatelly with repetition of the same mate.
a5,a7,g7: Grasshoppers 1.Rb6 Gxc5 2.Rb4+ Kxd3# (2…Rc4??) 1.Rf6 Gxe5 2.Rf4+ Kxd3# (2…Re4??) 1.Rc7 d5 2.Gd8+ Kxd3# (2…Gd7??) In the first two solutions, black rooks are immobilized. In the next solution the black grasshopper at a7 is immobilized. In all the three solutions, the white king is immobilized in spite of the available flight at d1. In the first two solutions, white helps black to self-block and in the third it helps itself to mate after self-block. (Author) Disparate: If one side makes a move with a piece of type “x” (black, white, neutral, half-neutral, etc., King included), the other side cannot answer immediately by moving a piece of the same type “x”. Grasshopper: Hops on Q-lines over any one unit (the hurdle) to the next square beyond. |
