Problem 148: Francesco Simoni - Twomover |
(16.03.2013) Twomover with rich thematic tries play by Francesco Simoni from Italy. 1.Se2! [2.Bd4#] 1…Qxe2 2.Rxf5# (2.Bf4? no guard on d4 after the capture) 1…Sxe3 2.Qd4# 1…Sc6 2.Rxd5# 1.Sb5? [2.Bd4#] 1…Qd1 2.Rxf5# 1…Sxe3 2.Qd4# (2.Qxb8? interference to Qb4) 1…Qxg3 2.Rxf5# but 1…Sc6! (fails for the interference to Ra5) 1.Sce6? [2.Bd4#] 1…Sxe3 2.Qxb8# (2.Qd4? interference to Rf6) 1…Sc6 2.Rxd5# 1…fxe6 2.Rxe6# but 1…Qd1! (fails for the interference to Bc8) 1.Sfe6? [2.Bd4#] 1…Qd1 2.Bf4# (2.Rxf5? interference to Bc8) 1…Sc6 2.Rxd5# 1…fxe6 2.Rxe6# but 1…Sxe3! (fails for the interference to Rf6) Three tries are refuted because of white interferences. In try 1.Sb5?, after 1…Qd1/Sxe3 follow 2.Rxf5/Qd4. Such defences are the refutations of tries 1.Sce6? 1.Sfe6?, in which both wS play in the same square and interfere two companion pieces at the same time (Bc8, Rf6). The interferences prevent mates 2.Rxf5/Qd4, but a compensation is created each time and only one of the defences becomes the try refutation, in turn, while after the other the mate is changed. I consider this play as a particular form of the Herpay theme, realized with white pieces. (Author) |
