(23.04.2013) A very nice selfmate with Avanta theme in combination with bP one-two step play and white/black battery play by Rodolfo Riva from Italy which he dedicate to his compatriot Antonio Garofalo.
Here is the definition published in one thematic tourney: Avanta - rectilinear play of two neighboring pawns (white: 2nd rank; black: 7th rank) to the 4 squares available to them. In my memories it was not necessary both pawns to be neighbors, but can be for example "c" and "e" pawns as in the problem above. Other opinions?
Very nice idea -- The b-pawn should not guard the square unguarded by black ! I wonder if it would be possible to show the same play after two different black pieces playing to 'c5', white choosing b3 or b4 + due to dual avoidance ?
